Towel grips are best if you need sweat absorption and a soft feel, while synthetic grips are better for durability, low maintenance, and a slightly tacky surface. The right choice depends on your personal comfort and playing style.

Difference Between Badminton Grips

In badminton, the type of grip on your racket can make a big difference to your comfort, control, and playing style. Grips are usually divided into two main types: synthetic grips and towel grips.

Towel grips are made from cotton material that absorbs sweat very effectively. They provide a soft and comfortable feel, making them a popular choice for players who sweat a lot during games. Because they absorb moisture, they need to be replaced or cleaned regularly, otherwise they may become slippery or unhygienic. Towel grips are often preferred by professionals who want maximum control and a secure hold during intense matches.

Synthetic grips, on the other hand, are made from polyurethane (PU) or other synthetic materials. They are smoother, easier to maintain, and last longer compared to towel grips. While they do not absorb sweat as well, many players like them because they give a firmer, tackier feel and do not require frequent replacement. Synthetic grips are commonly used by recreational and intermediate players who want durability and low maintenance.
